Grandpa Phone
For the past ~6 months I have had my phone on "Assistive Access" mode. This is made for the elderly who's children don't want them to have too much power. In addition to this I bought an Apple Watch.
I currently have the main apps I need (Outlook, Camera, Dining, Firfox Focus, etc.) and took away the apps I found to be a drag on my ability to think. These were iMessage, Music and any social media or app that scrolls.
If you are like me and lack any semblance of self-control, the key is to have someone else set the password.
I think this is the most beneficial thing one can do in a "digital-minimalism" journey (I hate that term). You keep the benefits of having a device that holds the internet but is rid of the distractions. The Apple Watch is such a pain to do anything on that I can't see myself ever doing anything but the necessities. No, I will not download a game on my watch.
Highly recommend looking into this mode. It's also a good conversation starter.
